NEW SONGS FOR A CHILL SUMMER MONDAY: New Music Mondays #10
Is Monday already? Again? How could that be? Luckily, I got really relaxed this time and found some super chill music to get you through the week. Try and enjoy and find the positivty. I also threw in some bonus pump up songs at the bottom :) Let me know what you think!
Are You With Me - Lost Frequencies
Category: Most Likely To Make Me Want to Go to Mexico
There's not a lot of words in this song, but the few that made the cut outline a Mexican vacation full of love, margaritas and gazing at the water/blue lights. I've never really heard anyone refer to the blue lights of Mexico before, but they sound awesome.
Powerful (feat. Ellie Goulding & Tarrus Riley) - Major Lazer
Category: This Week's Best of Diplo
With new Major Lazer out we can have weeks of new Diplo on the playlist. Who's pumped? I am!
Uh Huh - Romans
Category: Best Use of Onomatopoeia in a Song Title
Onomatopoeias (aka words that phonetically imitate or suggest the source of the sound that it describes) are my favorite. Words like Uh Huh, Boom and Sprinkle are all very important to my vocabulary and I love when people use them in music.
How Hard I Try (feat. James Hersey) - filous
Category: Break-Up Song of the Week
Maybe it's because I am so lucky and believe I will never truly connect with a break-up song ever again (thank God), but I always find them so good. It's just an emotion I don't have to tap into anymore. Plus I think James Hersey is about to be huge. I keep coming across his music and it's always so good.
The Hills - The Weeknd
Category: Most Weirdly Sexual
I've been listening to The Weeknd for years now. I remember always thinking that if he would just write more traditional love songs he would be such a success. Then 50 Shades came around and he killed it in the theme song game. And from that his true music is starting to get more attention. I love that. I like how dark and different it is. Killin' it Abel.
Budapest - George Ezra
Category: Most Likely to be My New Positivity Theme Song
I have no idea where I first heard this song. I feel like it was in a movie or something, but I just love how upbeat and positive it is.
Ulay, Oh - How I Became the Bomb
Category: Most Eastern European
I can't remember where I found this song, but I know it was like deep in Sweden's Trending/Viral Playlist or something. I've never said "Ulay, Oh" in my life, but I like it.
Prayer in C (Robin Schulz Radio Edit) - Robin Schulz & Lilly Wood
Category: Best Use of Your Name Twice in the Song Title
Isn't it weird that Robin Schulz put his name in the song title twice? Other than that, love the song.
AND JUST IN CASE YOU NEED SOMETHING TO PUMP YOU UP THIS WEEK:
BONUS SONGS
Doctor Pepper - Diplo, CL, Riff Raff & OG Maco
Category: Song That Blew My Mind This Week
This is like all my favorite people in one place. You might recognize Riff Raff from such hit songs as "Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz" and "Dolce and Gabbana". OG Maco I'm sure you've heard on "U Guessed It" (BITCH YOU GUESSED IT! BLAHP BLAHP). And Diplo you know as my alter-ego. It's lovely to see them come together on what is sure to be an instant classic. (I'm having a really hard time taking myself seriously after just writing this hahahahahaha).
Too Original (feat. Elliphant and Jovi Rockwell) - Major Lazer
Category: Song I'm Going to Beg My Coach to Let Us Dance To
Last but not least a little extra Diplo for your week ahead. I love this song. It's the most upbeat off the new Peace is the Mission, and although this week was based in chill music, a little Diplo never hurt anybody.
